URGENT FOSTER CARE NEEDED

The CIHS Shelter is looking more and more crowded each day. Unfortunately, a large number of our adult dogs have heartworm and need a foster home to start treatment!

WE NEED Foster parents for these animals, or they will remain in our care until the succumb to the disease!

The Shelter will provide you with a crate, food, bowls and medication. You will provide a nice, calm, loving environment in which the animal can recover. Most of our heartworm foster animals require treatment for a couple months, but each case is different.

For more details, or if you're interested in fostering one of our lovely canine friends, please call the Shelter on 949-1461 or email info@caymanhumanesociety.com

UPDATE - Post Hurricane Paloma

Many of our members, volunteers and friends have been wondering what the Humane Society has been able to do in response to the devastation in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman caused by Hurricane Paloma. In response, the Board of Directors and Shelter Staff would like to state the following:

1) CIHS sent over food and supplies for the Brac on the first two boats that landed!

2) CIHS coordinated with Wildlife Rescue the supply of wild bird seed and feeders for the Brac

3) CIHS has subsequently sent two large shipments of over 1500 pounds of dog, cat and bird supplies to the Brac

4) Brac Humane Society is distributing this food to all pet owners, as there is none on the Brac.

6) International Charities have been contacted for aid. Pegasus Foundation is sending funds to help cover the costs of this much needed relief effort.

7) The SMU Vet School Students have taken up a monetary collection to help support our relief efforts.

8) Cost U Less is supporting the relief efforts through a discounted price for all food going to the Brac.

9) Cayman Airways Air Cargo Staff have been extremely helpful with our large shipments to the Brac. Deliveries have been made the same day they are dropped at Cargo.

10) A donated refrigerator for Noah's Ark has been delivered to protect any medications the animals may need. (Shelter has a generator!)

11) Noah's Ark has now been used as a holding facility for two hurricanes and has survived both storms without any damage and all animals were safely returned to their owners. (Following Paloma, it was left open for an extended period, in case the need to house animals was necessary, but it was not.)
